HITeducation.com is an educational curriculum incorporating a series of activities. This educational curriculum will be directed toward the learning needs of hematologists, emergency medicine physicians, and critical care nurses. To help patients achieve successful clinical outcomes, it is imperative that health care providers stay abreast of the latest evidence and best therapeutic management and practices surrounding HIT screening, diagnosis and recognition of its presentation.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify risk factors associated with heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) in the hospital setting and apply this knowledge toward guideline adherence for accurate HIT screening and identification
  • Review the most recent guidelines for early recognition and accurate diagnosis of HIT and demonstrate an awareness of the current recommendations surrounding management options
  • Utilize practical tools for raising HIT awareness and improving its management in the hospital setting
